February 2025 Student of the Month

The Freedom Scientific Student of the Month Program features K-12 students living in the U.S. who are blind or visually impaired and use Freedom Scientific technology to achieve educational goals. The Student of the Month for February 2025 is Meron, a seventh-grader from Maryland.

Meet Meron our February 2025 Student of the Month

Meron began learning JAWS in the sixth grade and uses it both in and out of the classroom to complete assignments, access web pages, and read important class materials. “JAWS helps me access information I couldn’t access with other tools,” he explained. He is currently learning how to use the Focus 40 braille display.

After high school, Meron is interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. In his spare time, he enjoys reading audiobooks and taking part in outdoor activities like running and rock climbing. Last year, he also competed in cross-country running and says he enjoyed the sport.

Meron says JAWS and the Focus 40 are important for his future success. “In high school and when I grow up, I will eventually have to be independent, so I am practicing now.”
