Create, Access, and Edit Spreadsheets Using Google Sheets and JAWS

In our last live webinar, “Google Sheets and JAWS,” we:

  • Introduced you to Google Sheets
  • Demonstrated common tasks
  • Provided useful keyboard shortcuts that improve the user experience

This week, we’ll delve deeper into this application with a task-based approach to learning in FS Skill Building and Review, “Create, Access, and Edit Spreadsheets Using Google Sheets and JAWS.” Just a few of the topics we’ll cover include creating spreadsheets, inserting date and time, and working with multiple sheets.

Create a New Spreadsheet

You can create a new spreadsheet from Google Drive or from sheets.google.com. Once your sheet is named, you can begin entering data into it. All changes and edits are automatically saved so you never have to worry about losing crucial information.

Insert Date and Time

You can insert the date and time into a spreadsheet using keyboard commands or formulas. Use keyboard shortcuts if you want static values that won’t change, and formulas if you’d like them to update whenever the spreadsheet is edited.

Work with Multiple Sheets

By default, a new Google spreadsheet consists of one sheet, but you may choose to add multiple sheets when working with large amounts of information. You can add and navigate through multiple sheets, then rename and delete them all using the keyboard.
